New Olympus DSLR bodies... Can't Post

Someone posted this link on the dpreview forums.

(Hope your Spanish is adequate.Laugh)

http://www.foto-club.es/Noticiaolympus.htm

(I tried to translate via Google: http://translate.google.com/...ev=%2Flanguage_tools )

Official announcement is on Monday, per Olympus: http://www.olympusamerica.com/.../cpg_digital_slr.asp , but they still don't give a clue as to the release date of the new 'pro' bodies to replace the E-1.

Looks like the new E-510 will actually have in-camera image stabilization! Plus 10mp, Live View on the 2.5" LCD, and of course standard Olympus dust reduction.

I don't really need 10mp or Live View, but the image stabilization is enough to make me wait for it, instead of buying another e-500.

I'm very curiouse to know what their prices are going to be. I'm starting to loose interest in new up to date equipment, although I still love to read about it. I have the E500. I rescently bought alot of manual lens for it, and love the quality of these lenses. OM 135mm f/2.8, 50mm f/1.8, 28mm f/2.8 and 2 others. I purchased all of these lens for less than $175.00. I think camera lens are my new focus (digital). Ten megapixels would be nice though. Keep us updated.

LINK FOUND... http://www.rangefindermag.com/magazine/Oct06/showpage.taf?page=86 page down to Image Stabilization Confusion...
I read that the image stabilization in the Sony A-100 is a bit misleading. It isn't like the Optical Stabilization that we videographers are used to.... basically what the camera does is automatically increase the ISO so that the shutter speed can also be increased.... thus helping to eliminate blur. Some Nikons have a setting that does that but it isn't marketed as "image stabilization".... I read this the other night, I think in Rangefinder.... I'll post a link if I can find it.... I wouldn't be surprised if Olympus used the same "in-camera image stabilization" as Sony... I might be wrong on this whole thing but I'll look to see if I can find my info... Mike R.

The original LiveView DSLR, the Olympus E-330, also had that silly IS "mode", to where it just boosted the ISO/shutter speed. I'm hoping that won't be the case with the new E-510. Since they went so far as to put an IS badge on the front of the cam, maybe it has something more substantial. I think the newer Pentax DSLR's feature in-cam IS that actually moves the sensor to get a steady image. That might actually be something usable.

I'm also wondering if the LiveView is on a fixed LCD like the new Canon, versus the tilting LCD like on the E-330. I don't really want LiveView, and if it's on a fixed LCD, then it really doesn't interest me whatsover. 10mp versus 8mp...who cares. So, if the IS isn't worthwhile, I'm going to cash in on the current price of the E-500 ($440), and blow next month's rent money on one. Tongue Hopefully it will drop even more on Monday.

How is that working, using OM lenses on the E-500? Does it still double the focal length of the OM lense, i.e. make the 50mm a 100mm? I've got a few OM lenses, and was tempted to get a new E-500 and an OM adapter, but I'm worried that focusing might be too much a challenge with no focusing screen. I read on the other forum about someone using a Katz Eye focucing screen, but they recently posted again that the fit was very problematic.

Nice deal on all those lenses for $175. I'd really like that 135 f2.8 as well, to use with my OM G. I recently got my OM dream lens...the 85mm f2/multicoated...and it is awesome!

In the meantime...the e-500 body just dropped another $15 to $425 at B&H!

I've been having fun with the OM lens, and yes the 50mm equates to 100mm. I bought a cheapy om adapter off ebay, but I think I will soon buy the original adapter by olympus.
