Do you give them the choice of photo or video? Or do you do the combos? Are you doing more video than photo business at the moment? Or evenly split? Just curious. I don't emphasize photography much but do mention it as an option when appropriate, plus I've started advertising in some photography listings to see what happens with that. I got a call yesterday from a couple who definitely wants photography and will consider videography "with whatever money is left," and that's the sort of customer I'm hoping to reach. They have a total budget which wouldn't leave much for video after hiring a separate photographer, but it's enough for me to do both and allocate resources for each accordingly. By combining the two I can provide a cost-effective solution they can't get any other way, and I make more than I would by offering just one or the other separately. It's a lot of work to do both photography and video at a wedding and requires three people to handle effectively, but the photography piece isn't particularly difficult compared to doing video. Plus with HD cameras I could use a frame grab from the video if I missed something critical on the still cameras, but I haven't had to do that yet. To me combining the two services is a natural step with benefits for both me and my customers, especially improving coordination regarding camera placement. :-)
