I haven't used that lens, Mark, but I bet it would be great for
getting some shots of the wedding party at the park. Wink
I bet Rusty would agree with that. Laugh

Yes, great lens; it stays on my one D70 all the time.

If you don't have one already, pick up one of the Nikon remotes (about $15); nice for certain shots where you want things perfectly still/vibration free. Today I should be getting my Nikkor 50mm 1.4 lens; which will complete my photo needs. This is a great lens as I fooled around with a photographer colleague's several weeks back; one could shoot quite a bit throughout the day with just this lens alone.

50/1.4 is probably the most used lens of my wedding day. You're going to be very happy with that unit. I shoot it wide open as much as possible, but always stop down to 2.8 or 4 for a couple 'safety' shots (i.e. tack focus).

Good to hear Darren, thanks.

Because I see keeping this lens handy for many shots throughout the day (plus wanting the same body for emergency back-up), I decided to pick up another D80 body; now giving me two D80s (one with the 50mm and one with a 18-135); to go along with my one D70 (and it's 200mm lens). Surely, I will look like a photographer now...Wink Never mind the quality of the pics, it's my image I'm most concerned about. Crazy Wink Cool j/k

Wouldn't be surprised if it becomes your workhorse. Shot approx. 70% of an outdoor ceremony/indoor reception sunday with the 50. The rest were @ 12, 85 and 200mm. Love the 50 for weddings.

lol @ image concerns. A few episodes of Oprah couldn't hurt man. Laugh

Too bad they don't make neck straps that hold three bodies.

Getting the Zuiko 50mm f2 (x2 magnification on Olympus FourThirds cams) really made me finally start liking digital photography.

50mm f2 1/50 natural sunlight....heavily photoshopped....

I have that lens. It stays on my D200 most of the time. Even though it's not as fast, I use it more than any of my other lenses.

Nice picture. Three things I like and one I don't...the overall composition is excellent (properly balanced and lots of diagonals), the catchlites are unusual but look great (maybe a sliding glass door or similar), and, how the whiskers look black against the white fur. It's nice and warm, too. Cool-looking cat. Not fussy on the vignetting - it's too square to pass for a possible natural vignette. Love vignetting as an enhancement to pictures though. I'll usually dupe a layer and apply vignette to the top layer, then erase the mid-portion plus what I don't want from the actual vignette (with a huge feathered brush). Sometimes I'll purposely make it uneven, or at the bottom/top of the frame only, depending on the scene.

This picture doesn't look heavily photoshopped...which is the goal of course.

She was just looking out the window, so you can see other buildings. Actually, the only thing I did was run a "lomo" effect PS action I downloaded off the internet. I hate working in PhotoShop because it's...well...WORK...and I've got too much low-paying video work to do already. Laugh But, I do have fun playing with actions other people wrote. That one comes out pretty neat sometimes.

For something closer to a standard 35mm Camera fast 50mm lens, I wanna try the Panny/Leica 25mm f1.4, but it's $800.Shocked
