Nikon D70 Wedding worthy? Can't Post

Is the Nikon D70 up to shooting a wedding? Does anyone shoot a wedding with just one camera? I'm not that sure how often still camera fail and was wondering if a back up is required.

Plenty of people are happy with the D70 for weddings and portraits. It has been reported that you can get pictures blown up to 24" without bother.
I wouldn't use just one. They are cheap enough to buy 2 and then you can have them both ready with different lenses.
The working life of the D70 is quite short at 1-2 years.

Is that working life limited by oncoming new technology, or the camera simply conks out after a while?

The shot limit before they wear out and face an uneconomical repair. So don't buy one off Ebay Wink

Coleman ... I use the Canon 20D, but know for a fact there are many that use the Nikon D70.

Last week I purchased my second 20D because you most definately need a backup. It also works out nice because I keep my Tamron 28-75 on one body and the 70-200 on the other. Sure beats changing lens.

If finances are short then I would recommend looking at the digital rebel ... even used. Of course if you do something like that then you have to go with both Nikon AND canon lenses. That wouldn't be good.

Anyway ... regardless of which way you go, I would not recommend anyone do a wedding on their own without backup. Even if it's a 1 in 1000 shot ... I would hate to have it happen during a wedding.

I have a photographer friend that works at B&H. His favorite is the Canon 20D for weddings.
