Nikon D80 owners Can't Post

I decided to upgrade my old Nikon Coolpix 995 to a D80. Although I won't be shooting stills for wedding work per se, I do shoot for the DVD cover and I like to take shots of objects at the gigs for inclusion into the video. Although the little coolpix has always taken great shots, it was very limited when it came to any manual control and the flash sucked at times (and I was always a bit embarrassed using the 995 when guests had better cameras). I also got the db-600 flash....

My niece recently got a D80 and I was blown away at some of the pics she has sent me....

Congrats, the D80 is a GREAT camera. I have that and a D70. Last year I picked up a 200mm Nikkor lens and I'm looking to add a fast 50mm.

Yeah you will, give it time and once one or two clients ask you out of the blue and you mention you have the gear and some level of understanding, you're done. Wink

Now, John, just pair your gear with a 622 Super Pro and no one will ever ask "Who's the pro?" when you're out on a shoot! LaughLaugh

"The photos have an entirely different 'look' to them when shot with this flash simply because of the amount of light this flash rains down."

My first DSLR was the d50... I liked it enough that I purchased a d80.
I have the sb600 and love the wireless TTL/flash feature on the d80.
I recently pick up the 50mm 1.8f and love the low light & fast focus. (I would like a little wider but for the money the 50mm works...)
I am also a lightsphere user... I do like the look verses a simple bounce flash.

Is it just me or does the silver/aluminum piece cheezes up the look of the flash...I bet the thing would "look" better if it was all black

Hi, Mark.

Actually, I never noticed it till you mentioned it. Myself, I'd
put a piece of gaffers tape over that silver band to make it less
conspicuous.
