Nikon d70s vs Canon D30 Can't Post

I know I am going to get a wide array of opinions here, but here goes anyway. I just purchased a Nikon d70s (not opened yet- can still return). If you were going to start doing photgraphy would you start with the Nikon or the Canon. Any help or opinions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks to all.

d70s is nice but not that much better than a d50 and a lot more expensive and older tech. Swap for a d50 and use the change to buy a nikkor 50mm 1.8D AF and a zoom lens, either the kit 300mm or the fancy vr 200mm. I prefer nikon because my research led me to decide that I could get a good kit of lenses a lot cheaper than with canon.

Before I bought my 20D I did a lot of homework on the pros & cons of Nikon vs Canon, especially considering I already had a sizeable Nikon system. The thing that won me over to the 20D was the more faithfull reproduction of skintones. Up until then my opinion of digital skintones was that people looked like manaquins. One thing you should do is visit the digital photography forums and get a feel for the likes, dislikes and history of a particular model of camera or lens. How much does an 8mp Canon cost vs an 8mp Nikon, for example. Some of the forums get down to slicing hairs for lens image quality. But in the end it's the information you've gathered, your wallet, and your gut feelings.

return that camera and get the 30D. Bigger viewfinder, and low
noise at high isos. Much faster AF and no shutter lag. You can always add the grip if it feels to small in your hands.

true dat. I have seen some green Canon skin tones, and some
good ones. I will say outside and with flash myskin tones
were alwasy very good with Nikon. Tweaked correctly, either one
should produce fine results.

Anyone here interested in buying a sharp copy of the Tamron 28-7XR Di for Nikon? still has 3.5yrs warranty left, box and papers. Asking $275.
I need somemore Canon glass

hahah, no ballers. I have two booked this year. I am just now
getting a new website and marketing going. I am going to start
out with a lower offering to get some weddings, then the prices are going up.
