I'm currently marketing by direct delivery on disk.... so, I haven't used this yet.

I have been asking photographers that I work with, and the names I hear most often are Pictage, Snapfish and Shutterfly.

Sony VX2100's, iRivers, M-audio 24/96, Canon 5Ds/20Ds (and too much glass), Vegas6, PhotoShop CS3, Lightroom, etc.

Well, let's see. I know of two. The first one is Collages.Net, and the second is Pictage.Com. I like Collages better, but they don't print and send your order like Pictage.

Thank you both for your response. I think collages.net is the best and most economical of the bunch. The downside I see with Shutterfly and Snapfish is that you loose control of the images. Anyone can order prints directly, cutting you out of the loop. Am I wrong about this?

If you are looking solely for an online display and order process, you may want to take a look at BreezeBrowser Pro. It allows you to create an online album, set prices, and collect the funds thru your PayPal Acct. The order sheet is sent to you thru email (I think) and then you print the order thru your own lab and send off the finished prints to the customer.

I don't know about BreezeBrowser, but I can recommend www.Moreproofs.com. You can have a different price list for each shoot, all funds can go through paypal or collect CC info and send it to you for processing. The system mails you an invoice and be configured to give packaged discounts. All of this with password protection and watermarks to protect your images. The cost is reasonable at $24 a month with very good tech support.

All of my clients are password protected, but PM me and I'll give you access.

I'm using PhotoReflect. There's no storage limits or charges and they handle all the orders. They do take approximatly 17% of the sales. However, if you're not really high volume at this time it may be worth it.

Went to MegaProofs but their site seems to be under construction. I'm not pushing BreezeBrowser, but when using it you are in full control. You purchase the software (no monthly fees). All photos sit on your website, and if you know some HTML, you can hack the code to customize your layouts.

Photos can sit on your site for as long as you wish without worrying about storage fees, monthly fees and so on.

Hey Alan
When I was a full time photographer in Clarkston we used JD Color Lab in Flint. I really liked them a lot. They are very large, have outstandng digital service, and are one of the innovators of Kodak ProShots. Not only can you do the online stuff, but it is invaluable to use a local company that you can actually go to. Call 810-239-8671 and ask for Robin. She'll be the one to talk to about weddings.
