The Oly E-3 looks to be a rather stout camera. It got a gushing review on DP review. I liked my E-500, but it felt rather cheap in it's build quality. And I hated the viewfinder. Looks like Oly took pains to really improve the VF on the E-3.

Yeah, the e-510 is a little better than the e-500, most importantly the in-body OIS, which is super-awesome. They're both cheap consumer cameras, and small/lightweight, but I do like the ergonomics. I have small hands, and love the way they feel. Of course, they're the only DSLR's I know, so I can only compare them to 35mm cameras. My friend picked up a Canon Rebel to shoot family pics, and it felt less substantial than even the e-500. I do like the feel of the Nikon consumer D50/70 cams, however.

The e-510 is also way less noisy at high ISO's, but the E-3 is supposed to be even better, which is the only reason I want to upgrade to the E-3 really. But for a sub-$500 consumer camera, the e-510 ain't a bad deal.

Olympus is also supposed to be finally releasing the long awaited constant aperture 14-35 f2 lens, which will be awesome, but it will cost like $2200!! Shocked It would be great for weddings, coupled with the constant aperture 35-100 f2 lens, which cost about the same.

But if I start actually booking some paid wedding photo gigs, the cost won't be hard to justify. Beats spending countless of thousands of dollars on High Def video and audio gear to shoot $699 videos. Crazy

I hope it works out for you. I certainly give photogs their props. Most of the good ones work their butts off. But as you said, equipment-wise, it will be a blessing not to have to lug around multiple camcorders and heavy tripods. It seems half the photogs I see these days don't even use tripods anymore, especially with the low light capability of digital cameras.

And not having to worry about audio is another advantage.

I've heard the Oly colors and skin tones are pretty nice right
out of the cam, even in jpeg. Do you find that to be true?
I remember hearing where some guy who does mass printing
can recognize images shot with Oly just from their appearance.

Everyone has been telling me it's been running slow, or not finishing loading at all. I appreciate any feedback, since I pay a lot of money for a "pro" account with SmugMug, so if customers are having a hard time with it, then I need to re-consider using them. Of course, it might have something to do with me uploading like 500 full rez photos into the gallery. Laugh I think in the future I'll have to limit the upload to "200 of the best pictures"...and just send the client the full load of pics on data DVD. 500 was just WAY too many to be uploading, and probably overwhelmed the gallery.

Thanks for looking!!

I limit the online gallery to 100 photos. It takes too long otherwise and it gets annoying on my end because I like to have them in a certain order or decide to switch, etc.

Once I atcivate the shopping cart that might change, but for now it's 50 - 100 pics/wedding for the gallery online. People seem quite happy with that.
