More info... RustyB, I think you should consider buying the L1 instead of the E330. Smile

Re: [observerXP] Panasonic DSLR [In reply to] Can't Post

Looks like the LC1/D2 upgrade I've been waiting for. This is a prototype though. Any word on release date and price? I've heard some say close to $2K which would price it way out of it's competition in the 4/3 market. For professional use, I can buy a Nikon D200 with 18-200mm lens for $2400. Hopefully it will cost about as much as a Nikon D70 kit.

EDIT: Interesting how they kept the 'L1' nomenclature. I wonder if the Leica version will be branded the 'Digilux 3'?

The body doesn't look very ergonomic for a DSLR. Especially if you start claming large lenses on the front of it. Unsure

I think the Leica lens alone will cost $2000. Smile

I'm not fond of the current Lumix bodies however I've never held a D2/LC1 which this is based around. I'd prefer a smaller, less front heavy lens but it goes with the territory. Ergonomics wise it shouldn't be any less front heavy than the Sony R1 though. Without using the L1 I'd really like a better viewfinder. It looks like it suffers from tunnelvision. Comparatively the viewfinder on Sony R1 looks much better.

In the end however I'll buy one based on two things: Price. I don't see myself spending over $1500 on it as I can then go for either a 30d with a decent lens or step up to a Nikon d200. Image quality. If it in any way surpasses the D2/LC1 in it's capability to capture light. Those cameras were amazing for such as small sensor.
