Photos from my 2nd Wedding Shoot Can't Post

Here are a few pictures from a recent wedding where I worked as a second shooter... nothing really special but thought I would post a few:

Were you using any kind of flash with these? Which camera/lenses?

Yes, I used a flash and those are all raw images with no corrections... some I think will need to be brightened up a bit but the photog who hired me said he would do all the post work. Most of them were shot with the Canon 17-55 IS 2.8 lens, the macro was shot with a Tamaron 70-300 5.6. I used was a Canon Speedlight 580EX flash.

Wish my 'second shooter' was that competent. Excellent job. Only ones I don't care for are 2 and 6; the rest are quite good. #9 could be made a bit better by relocating his hand to higher ground Sly

I almost said 'hot bride', but then noticed they look like children getting hitched. Krazy kids.

Edit: Thanks for sharing them Shane.

About #7 - the foot shot ... Did she get married barefoot?

Re: [DarrenS] Photos from my 2nd Wedding Shoot [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi Darren,
Thanks for the compliment.. of course I am still learning but with each photo shoot I wonder why the hell am I lugging all this video equipment around and spending weeks editing and creating wedding movies! Hopefully next year will see more photo shoots and less video shoots (or at least the same number of video shoots with more photo shoots!)
This was the first time to shoot with this photographer so I was just trying to get what I could get while she did most of the setups.. there were a few good ones in the bunch but a lot of "2nd Shooter" type shots... the photographer was happy with what I sent them so I guess that is what really matters.
Yes, that couple was very very young... like 19 and 20. Krazy kids for sure.
The bride was pretty but as you said, very young.

Yes, I had taken a couple of shots of her feet and that one was the candid one.. the other was posed and did not look as good. Yes she went barefoot during the ceremony which I thought was kind of cool.. she was quite a bit taller than her groom so I am not sure if that had anything to do with it.

Very cool Shane... I couldn't resist... #3 definitely needed some TLC in Photoshop. In my opinion it was a great shot.

Thanks for sharing! Wink

It doesn't sound like you got permission from Shane to
reproduce his work. Also, I don't see where he asked for
a critique.

I would've pm'd him first to see if he was okay with it.

I think most posted pics are fair game for "playing with"...besides, when I post I enjoy seeing how other people tweak my stuff (as rare as I post stuff)..but that is just me...

It's not very helpful unless you give us a idea of what you did. Tongue

I like the adjustments a lot, except for the vignette.

Brackish: Sue me.

Postal: Can't agree with you more.

Rusty: Oh man... I really had no recipe to follow but looking at the PSD it was something like this:
- new layer
- stamp visible
- blending options (Screen)
- new layer
- stamp visible
- Gaussian Blur
- blending options (Overlay at 70%)
- burn (flowers, dresses) - action
- skin correction (mostly face) - action
- colors by couple notches (action) - action
- contrast/lightness (up)
- vignette

Yeah... how about that???

Or how about you leave this between me and Shane. No need for arbitration.

Re: [Xray] Photos from my 2nd Wedding Shoot [In reply to] Can't Post

Rusty... just applied the above to this image. Plus, added some sepia tones to drop some color on both sides to make the bride stand out more (just my personal interpretation).

Shane, what are you shooting with (camera/light)?

Ditto Rusty. Don't care for the vignette in that particular picture but the other work is very effective.

I gave Shane silent credit in my commments for sharing his raw images. Guess it's not so silent anymore.Smile

Re: [szerangue] Photos from my 2nd Wedding Shoot [In reply to] Can't Post

Very nice, thanks for sharing.

Just a quick note, I really liked the one shooting between the railing. I've done a silmilar shot, it looks really neat if you use a lower fstop and the railing is blurred. Just an idea for next time if you like that kind of thing.

The action on the garter shot is a nice effect.

I am using a Canon 30D with the 580 Speedlight.
No problem with tinkering with my stuff, I would have done the same had I been delivering it to the bride.
