Photoshop Actions - what am I doing wrong? Can't Post

Ok all you photoshop experts, I need your help.
When I create an action I hit the new action key, call it whatever and click ok, then I do whatever I wanted to the photo to create an action, hit save and close then stop recording.

All works great - except when I run the action under file-automate-batch - pick that action, it never saves and closes. Even if in the batch automation I click "save and close" under destination.

Any ideas?

I have my own issues with creating actions, but I believe what you want to do is:
- open the photo
- use the arrow to create new action and name it
- adjust your photo accordingly
- stop the action

I do not save and close the actions. When I batch I choose the folder that I want changed, and either select the folder I want them to go to or I select Save and Close to keep it in the same folder.

So essentially ... try making your action again, but do not include an open command, save command, or close command.

Not sure if that'll do it or not, but I think it will.

I mis-spoke ... the following is a section that I had saved on my desktop from another forum because I always had problems.

Make the last step of your action a Save As. It doesn't matter WHERE you save it, as you will override this location when you set up the batch. What DOES matter is the JPEG level you set in this step, as that is what will be used during the batch. Do not change the name of the file when you record your action!!!

Now when you run your batch, just remember to check the box for Override Save As in action, and everything should be fine.

Thanks Sparky, I'll try that too. I tried your first suggestion of removing the save and close from the action, that did seem to work much better, although occasionally there were a few that didn't save and close for some reason. I'll try this new technique - thanks.
