Photoshop CS2 - which one? Can't Post

Can someone tell me what the difference is between CS2 and CS2 Premium? We don't want/need After Effects, so aside from that, will I want or need any of the other stuff in the Premium version? Or does the Standard version suffice for most photo editing needs?

Then it comes down to CS2 or Elements 4.0...?

I might not need CS2 now, but I don't want to find later that I will wish I had gone with it, for whatever reasons. By the way, what reasons might they be?

What do you suggest?

If you purchased a Canon camera (can't remember) then it probably came with some version of Elements. You can use that code to upgrade to CS2 from Adobe's site, which is what I did. I'm not aware of any need to go with anything other than CS2, but I'm sure there are others out there better versed in PS to know what you might need.

Yes, we got the 30D but I don't know about any Elements software that came with it. Brian installed the EOS Utility software on the computer and he's been playing about with some ULead editing software ( Photo Impact) b/c he's thickheaded and doesn't want any Adobe products. But I insist on learning what appears to be the industry standard - Photo Shop.

I would much rather purchase an upgrade rather than the full version (of course) but I don't see any indication that we have any Adobe software.

Look through you computer junk boxes...surely there's a copy of Elements in there somewhere. I think I once found a copy of Elements in a box of Count Chocula. Tongue

When I chose PS a few years ago, it wasn't even the best prog but it already had so much plug-in support and training material that it was the best choice. Nowadays, you can find free plug-ins actions and templates that make it the only sensible choice and like you say it is the industry standard, so you know you can swap and send images anywhere without problems.
