Man, I wish I knew how to better explain this, but here goes the best way I know how to do this.... Create new layer "gradient" using the little icon in the "layers" box. The little "Gradient Fill" window will pop up. Next to the "Gradient" option, there's that little box that shows the type of gradient you want. Click that box, and a new window will pop up. That's where you can use the sliders to set exact what the opacity is at each spot in the gradient. You just have to play with it a while to get it right. Does that make any sense at all, or have anything to do with what you're asking?? I think I do the same thing that you're talking about with ALL of my wedding DVD menus.
