Photoshop question	Can't Post

I can probably get the answer from my son later tonight after he gets off work, but thought I would check in here to see if anyone knows how to do this.

Essentially I want to take a 4x6 photo and it's going to be my price guide at the bridal shows.

I have a photo with the b&g outside, framed on the right hand third of the photo.

What I would like to do is use a black gradient that goes from left to right and feathers out before I get to the couple.

I've tried just about everything I can think of, but no matter what ... the gradient layer (white part) covers up the part of the first layer that I want to show.

I know it's easy, but for the life of me can't remember how I did this before.

LAYERS....
Put the gradient on the background
have the b&g on the top layer...

Man, I wish I knew how to better explain this, but here goes the best way I know how to do this....

Create new layer "gradient" using the little icon in the "layers" box.

The little "Gradient Fill" window will pop up.

Next to the "Gradient" option, there's that little box that shows the type of gradient you want. Click that box, and a new window will pop up. That's where you can use the sliders to set exact what the opacity is at each spot in the gradient. You just have to play with it a while to get it right.

Does that make any sense at all, or have anything to do with what you're asking?? Laugh

I think I do the same thing that you're talking about with ALL of my wedding DVD menus.

Ah, I see what you're saying. I thought maybe he was talking about putting the gradient on the image itself......

Actually the effect I was going for was more like Rusty's. I wanted the gradient to feather out before it got to the couple.

It's sometimes hard to explain exactly the look I'm going for but that's pretty much it.
