Questions for wedding photographers Can't Post

i am new to wedding photography and i have some questions hopefully someone can help me with.

what is your workflow after you take the wedding pictures?

if you are doing a storybook album, do you create it yourself and print it yourself or do you outsource it? if so, who do you recommend?

if you are doing a regular album, where do purchase it and do you print the pictures yourself?

thanks!

Probably because most everyone on the board is a videographer doing digital photography and your question was directed specifically to wedding photographers.

Personally when it comes to photo albums I prefer to do just about everything myself.

Workflow is -

1. Shoot everything in RAW
2. Touch up RAW
3. Show client proofs of the best pictures
4. Find out what colors were used at their wedding - design album to fit those colors
5. Print photos on double sided photo paper
6. Handbind book with custom wedding colors

Handbinding a book is rather quick and painless.

Rob I would have responded but honestly I just got my camera a few weeks ago and just got my flash today so I'm not the person you want giving out advice on photographyUnsure

take pics go home upload them to two onto two different computers and burn a images to disk. Let them sit a couple of days before I go back and look at them. Each day I work on about 100 pics color correcting and such. After they are all corrected load them onto my site. Call the bride and groom and tell them there pics are online. They order the pics they want I print and ship to them. If they are going to get an album I will sit with them and design the album roughly with them. If it is a traditional album I order the albums and mats. If it is a digital album I will begin the design process of that as well. I send the digital album to Graphi Studio to be printed. I will get it back in about 6 weeks I inspect it then box it up and deliver it to the client.

Had to think about this a bit for the different variations involved.
Since the studio I do work with for the most part uses film and just recently digital, the proofs and final prints are made in house.
Digital work gets backed up 3 ways, a rough edit is done, and a cd is burned from which the proofs are made from. Proofs and final prints are sent out to a quality lab, and for someone like the guy I work with who makes color adjustments of 2 or 3 units, they better be good.
The studio assembles the proof books and final albums and they are picked up by the B&G.

A little different for me.....

Workflow is -

1. Shoot everything in JPG (1400 shots
2. Touch up JPG (500 shots)
3. Show client proofs of the best pictures Oneline for print ordering
4. Find out what colors were used at their wedding - design album to fit those colors (120 images ~30 pages)
5. Send Photo's to a LAB for professional printing; album pages and ordered prints
6. Send prints off to the book binders for album creation.
