Selling Prints Online Can't Post

I know this topic has come up before, mostly in bits and dabs in other threads so I thought I'd start an "official" one here.

What are some good sites to display and sell your stuff online? I have a pbase account for displaying right now, that's about the extent of it.

Anyone have a site they like and would recommend?

I have a pro account with SmugMug. You can check out my password protected sample gallery at http://russellbryce.smugmug.com/

Gallery is called "bumwine"...password is "sheep". You can see how it allows you to order prints from the gallery. I can also choose how much mark-up, if any, to charge for each kind of picture. I'm sure there are better ones than SmugMug, but after looking around for a while, I just liked them the best. The interface is clean and jack-ass proof, which is what I needed. Laugh

I my old computer clients ever stop sending me website jobs I'll eventually throw up my own site based on the open source osCommerce package. Perfect for selling photos autonomously; no commissions, no limitations and no reinventing the wheel.

If you do I'm sure you'd get some customers from here. :)

Hey - I finally found a place locally to buy bridal albums from, Harwood Photographics is in Whitby. I'm going Monday to check out their stuff and get pricing and such. If you want info just let me know. I was referred there by another photographer so I'm assuming it is ok stuff.

This is so ironic. They are using osCommerce to sell their stuff online. The lame part is they got sucked into it by an outfit called DesignerGeek.com (i.e. it's not their fault). These idiots are calling the free, open source osCommerce package their own, and branding it as 'GeekCommerce'.

Our GeekCommerce - Market is an absolutely revolutionary systems.

lol...I hate liars who take clueless people's money for something they could have had for free. Calling it your own software is even more pathetic. There are so many scams on the Internet it isn't even funny!

Anyway, thanks for thinking of me Heidi. I think there's enough info on their site for me. Good to know they're there!

Their website isn't very good, but the guy said it will be all updated in 2 weeks.
I went to their show room this morning and there's some nice stuff there. Friendly folks.

I am using Digilabs.com. I am impressed with the amount of
stuff I can order from them. I received my sample packet
last week, and the quality is great.

Check out collages.net They print pro pictures (they have a pro lab) and mail them out for you. You don't have to do anything except cash the check ;-)

Also you can set it up to collect e-mail addresses and names of people that go and view your pics (for example, bride's friends and family) and then e-mail them occassionally with promotions, holiday greetings etc.
