What do you do EXACTLY...?? I read alot of your stuff and I cant tell if you run your biz for photo or video or what?? I am soo curious!

S

You read a lot of my stuff? Awwwww - flattery will get you
everywhere, S! Smile But, really, thank you for saying.

Right now my biz is 100% video but I'd like to get to
be 50% or better photo. You know how it goes with a
new business: You've got to start at the bottom and
work your way up. And with wed photography,
the potential clients are concerned about your
level of experience for taking their all-important
wedding photos so they're leery about going with
someone without a demonstrated mastery.
But then how do you get experience
if no one wants to hire you because you don't have
experience. So, there's that initial hump you have
to get over to get the ball rolling.

So, I take it you're 100% video now but would like to
get into photo. Would you eventually like to
do more photo than video? How about photo/video
combos? Have you given some thought to those?

Actually, I'm like 90% video and possibly 10% photo...

I started taking on photo jobs this past year.. what I did was offer video grab photo albums and I had clients ask it I do photography .. so I offered photo for $999 ( just something simple) .. all images on CD.. that worked TOOO well.. so I killed it ... my clients wanted EVERYTHING plus the kitchen sink for $999..

So this year, I changed it up - and booked 2 jobs photo and video... that, I find is difficult.. I have to constantly FIND people to shoot with me... and reliable people are hard to come by...

So - I am still kinda working out the kinks.. but eventually - I think a combo package will work out just right...
I have alot of editing to do before christmas!.. and I have limited myself to only shooting about 20 weddings a year.. b/c of the edit backlog... I definately NEED an editor! ... that is my next accomplishment.. then I can concentrate on photography too!

how about you - do you have a timed plan in place.. you research ALOT on photography... I say - just DO IT.. ( it really is SOOO much easier than editing video!

Hi, S! Just curious what the clients wanted in addition to the "images on CD", for their $999?

Just do it?
Easier said than done, S. Folks getting married are
disinclined to entrust the photography of one of the
biggest days of their life to someone without a lot
of experience.
