Showing some results Can't Post

I throw enough advice/criticism out there that I feel compelled to throw myself to the wolves at times. I realize that I am still evolving too, but I sure am enjoying the art of photography. As I've said before, albums are my primary objective and ALL is geared towards it (while also satisfying parents with a few traditional poses).

So here is an opportunity to offer your critiques (though bear in mind that I build to the bride's tastes):

Very nice... I would not offer any critiques as Sunday will be my first wedding. Thanks for posting. Some of those shots were really quite nice.

I took it all in and thought it was, for the most part, excellent. A LOT of work there. Very, very well done. I won't mention my negatives because the positives outweigh the negatives by a big margin.

Well done.

Find your own style. But your own style could very well be a blend of the others you've seen before..... mine is.

You can mention items you may not like... some are error, some are requests from clients. I'll make up some excuse for most.CoolShockedWink

Very cool!

I thought all the pictures were great. But, I didn't care, personally, for all the ovals and some of the other shapes the pics were cropped to in the album. I don't look at many wedding albums, and don't know what's cool or not. Being a right-angle kinda guy, maybe I'm just prejudiced against ovals and trapezoids. Laugh But other than that, I thought it looked cool, and honestly have no idea how I would have done it different. Nice job!

Re: [RustyB] Showing some results [In reply to] Can't Post

I've had brides completely overhaul things before and get the album to their tastes (if I've missed the mark on their drafts). The best part of this is that they can review it and adjust it before we publish.... so it is their style in the end. But I think most of my clients prefer more contemporary and angled lay-outs.

This is still a draft, so we'll see where she goes. But knowing what you've said, I would have designed yours differently, Rusty. I show and tell with clients and note their likes/dislikes. It is wonderful to be able to create much more traditional looking albums for those that prefer them as well.

Hi Jeko

The images are very nice!

I like how you've laid it out digitally. There was one photo in there I think twice, one of the groom sitting on a rock with some out of focus plants in the front.

I'm with Rusty on the ovals, it seems less contemporary than the straight lines, but that's just my personal taste.

I thought it looked really nice, thanks for sharing.

Heidi

Once images are prepared and organized (about a two-day process starting with RAW images), the actual album drafting takes me 8-12 hours... though it depends on the amount of detail work I come up with....

I generally try to be done by Wed eve, though some Thurs AM at the latest. But I started out taking MUCH longer.

I really liked your shots on that album. Could you give some info on what program you are using and what company you get to process the albums? I'd like to look into doing something like this.

Thanks,
Aaron

Re: [Aaron] Showing some results [In reply to] Can't Post

I Photoshop the album layouts. Then there are actually a slew of publishers out there nowadays depending on the client's desires. So I basically draft them as 10x10 layouts, and then find out from client which style album they want to go after... depending on their budget and style.

I am now only publishing with places that exclussively cater to verified photo-studios. Superior quality, etc.

Re: [Jeko] Showing some results [In reply to] Can't Post

Which album companies do you typically use. I am having the hardest time deciding. Right now, at this moment, I am in the process of sending a layout for a Kingston Album at BayPhoto. I think this may be my 'standard' choice. I like that the couple can choose more customized cover options, though I've read that they almost always end up going w/ a black cover anyway.

Anywhoo - I'm curious what others are doing.
Thanks
