I'm trying to break it down in my head...use shutter speed to achieve proper exposure of the light and background (constant light sources) - use a flash (in manual mode) to pop the proper amount of light at the couple (temporary light). Use aperature to control DOF? Flash doesn't care about shutter speed, so shutter speed does not affect couple...only constant light sources. Aperature is used to control light coming in, so can help regulate flash strength of temporary source. Flash strength is used in combination with aperature for proper main subject exposure... I don't see any shadows, though, so either the shadows fall EXACTLY behind them or some other trick was used (low angle flash to go even with the ground? lots of work...) Or just not enough to really cast a shadow with the street light closer to the shadow side. -Postal
