Test Shots - Mamiya C220 Medium Format Camera Can't Post

Picked this up for a $200. I love the old school look of the camera, however the specs are nothing to sneeze at. 80mm f2.8 TLR (twin reflex camera)
lens on top is for viewinf/focusing. lens at the bottom takes the actual picture.

These are scans from an 8x10 contact print. I have yet to scan the negatives. I just realized I have a very dusty scanner. Unsure Shot with BW Ilford asa100 film.

Don't you just love the viewfinders on those medium format cameras? So big and clear.

I know! and I don't know if its just an optical illusion but the very shallow DOF makes the viewfinder look like 3D.

That really takes me back. I have a C33 that I picked up used about 20 years ago. I even shot a few weddings with it. You can get some beautiful pictures from this camera. The nice thing about the Mamiya TLRs is that they have interchangeble lenses. I have an 80mm and 135mm. Mine hasn't been used in years. Both lenses will need some work done on their shutters. These seem to fail after years of use. A TLR is very quiet. They use leaf shutters and there is no mirror slap. They were popular with wedding photographers years ago for that reason.

Most wedding photographers have abandoned medium format. I know of one guy around here who still uses his Bronica MF SLR. While he also has a Canon 5D, he uses the medium format camera as a selling point. Its the different look that he gets from a larger format that separates him from the pack.

Ahhh yes....
I still have my two C330f's. One with the 65mm wide angle and the other with 80mm normal. Shot many weddings with them.
But just as a thought, it might be fun to shoot a group formal with film & digital to see just what the actual quality differences are in large prints.

This could be a good self assignment...

You know what's kind of funny, Mazzy?
I just have read about someone's recent experience using a camera
that looks just like your Mamiya. They were shooting
the cam around some college students and one of the students asked
if it was a movie camera. Laugh

You ever try a Diana cam? I've heard some say Diana's are better
than Holgas. I wonder why they say that.
