What is the standard mark up for prints? Can't Post

I'm getting more and more calls from brides and their parents asking if they can buy prints from me. I want to do this but have no idea what the standard mark up is. I had one photog tell me it was 10% on the actual cost to print and ship. Does this sound right?

Storm,

There is no 'standard' markup for prints. I price my prints so that they of course cover my printing and month fee costs from my lab (pictage.com). I also make sure that I have my prints priced so that they are considered 'valuables' by those purchasing them.

All of my prices are on my site: http://www.jeffersontodd.com

Todd,
Off topic: Great photos! Great bio! I'm amazed that you actually find the time to keep it up to date. My fiance looked at it and she said she "would hire you on the spot knowing there is a personality behind those pictures". Those comments are probably more appropriate for a PM but I'm hoping that others might learn a lot by viewing your gallery.

Thanks so much Marcin!! It's not much of a bio on my site, but it says what I feel!

Thanks Jefferson... your pricing structure is so much simpler than what I was considering doing and so now I may have to rethink it. I like simple!

I shouldn't speak to pricing photos/services simply due to lack of experiance but I would definitelly consider something in between (unless what you have already works for you). When we were hiring our photographer he basically had three packages one was around $2.2, second (primary and assitant) was close to $3.5 and then one with prints (similar to yours)... so we ended up going with the second option since we didn't care about prints that much (we get RAW images on the DVD).

Ok, this doesn't pertain to prints. But I just wanted to let you know that I've got a friend who is giving 'album credit' with a package. I really like that idea because he is almost guaranteed that they will use the credit to actually buy an album, and also that they will want to spend more than just the credit on a nice album. That means more income after the wedding.

Just an idea.

Very nice site!
Could you tell me the name of the song/artist you used for Shannon-Dustin slideshow?
I really like that.

If it is the other slideshow.... that one is the Christian Group Delirious song is Inside/Outside

Inside Outside

Inside outside, under my skin
Never ending love I don’t know where it begins?
I don’t know where it ends, I don’t know how high
I don’t know how deep, I don’t know how wide
Outside inside around the world
Never ending love envelops me like a cloud
I feel you in front, I feel you behind
I feel you up above, And I feel you at the side

And you, you’re all over me, you’re all over me
Your banner is over me, I give it all ‘cos

You still captivate me, fascinate me
You still captivate me, saturate me

Inside outside, pulling me in
No matter where I run I know you’ll never give in
I see you in the storm, I see you in a kiss
I’ve been around the world and never found a love like this

You’re all over me, you’re all over me
You’re everything I want to be
I’m all over you, you’re everything I want to see
You’re all over me

You, still captivate me, fascinate me
You still captivate me, saturate me
You still captivate me, liberate me
You still captivate me
