Which lens? Can't Post

Looking to get a little wider. Unsure about these 2. What is the advantage of the Di II?

If it has to be a Tamron, I'd opt for the longer range of the 17-50.
I have the Canon 17-85 and it's my workhorse lens.

I have a Tamron 28-75 that pretty much resides on my body, I am just finding that I keep needing something a bit wider.

The 17-50 f2.8 looks really nice. I might consider it myself (Nikon version). Pricewise it is $439.00 instead of the $1200 or so that the Nikon 17-55 f2.8 costs. There were a couple of user reviews on the B&H page. Both commented that the lens is very sharp wide open. I would check other reviews and see how it compares to Canon's f2.8 zoom (which as I remember is just as pricy as Nikon's).
