almost had a heart attack! Can't Post

Proof that photogs make obscene amounts of money compared to video. Checked out a site from the ppa and they are running a competition to win a car or £20,000! ShockedShockedShocked

Re: [Brackish] almost had a heart attack! [In reply to] Can't Post

struggling with the workflow but it will get easier when I have the routines sorted. A lot easier than video - probably about a full half hour of work on the day compared to the full time with video. Got most of my suppliers organised and a whole bunch of stuff to sell as addons to make 4-5x the shoot cost. Kicking myself for not buying a stills cam when it was a choice between that or hdv Blush. Still prefer video for the story but photos are so easy to make money at! (When I don't spend 2 weeks on an album just to save £10! but that is good practice for album design and is a cheap sample)
Talking about time though, I love the way I get instant results on any alterations I do to the image and just what I can get out of an image and still get it to the customer by the end of the week. I expect that in a few months I will be at the stage where I can have a branded album delivered in 7 days.

Are you putting prints into an album, or creating the albums in PS and having an having an album company print the pages and bind them into an album?

I will be doing both. I am putting together a kodak photobook for a shoot and burn couple to try and tempt them out of a few more bux. I will be stocking 2 ranges of print and mount albums as stepping stones to wall hangings where I want to specialise. The end goal is a combined hdv/wallpainting combo that gives the best of both worlds - and gives me mega profit Wink The matte books start off at a higher level and are more classy IMO. The good thing about the PS albums are that you can take a lot of the page designs and sell them again as montages Cool

That's cool. The only thing I know about post-production in photography is..
1. Walk to the drug store and drop off film.
2. Walk to the pub and have a few pints of Guinness.
3. Pick up prints at drug store an hour later, and have something to look at while I stumble back home.

As far as album creation...
1. Go to Target and buy cheap album.
or
1. Scan and upload pics to drugstore's website and let them print in an album for $10.

That will work too. The trick is still to keep the time involved to a minimum. Wink I am doing my best to avoid telling myself I am an artist again Laugh. I spent 2 days getting the cd to the couple, and that was only cos I took too many pix! Then I spent 2 weeks making myself a £10 photobook to carry around for a sampler Frown
