i want this camera ... Can't Post

i still shoot a lot with film and I'm losing sleep over the Fuji Natura S (24mm, 1.9mm). i'll settle for any color because the black is virtually unfindable.

Hi, Mazzy.

I've never heard of that camera. What's the appeal of
it for you?

good question ... the 24mm 1.9 lens is the fastest and widest ever made for a point and shoot camera. I'd love to shoot BW landscapes with it. The Horizon Perfekt is just too clunky to use sometimes.

Is that camera something new? Or have they been making
it for a while?

What film would you use in it?

it was manufactured in 2005 ( i think) and never exported outside of Japan. thus the high ebay prices. I'd llike to try asa100 BW Ilfords on it.

Re: [mazzystar] i want this camera ... [In reply to] Can't Post

You know ... just this past week I was following a film camera
on ebay that had caught my interest.
It's was a Canon rangefinder with fixed 40mm f/1.7 lens and
auto exposure. And it was in the very rare black body, too Frown:

I don't do much with ebay because a lot of sellers want

you to use Paypal and I don't have that so I can't get in on

the bidding. They'll say "Paypal only".

I won some items and when I went to purchase I had forgotten
my password so I tried a few different words, which didn't work,
and the account was frozen due to "suspicious activity". I tried to
straighten it out with paypal but they wouldn't budge
and said I had to fax in various forms of ID and then wait for
customer service to call me yada yada yada. Well, I'm not
gonna fax in various forms of ID so I basically am locked out
from participating in the bidding on many items.

That Fuji cam you're eyeing up ...

It shoots a full-frame 35mm negative?

It has auto focus and auto exporsure?

that's a bummer with the paypal thing. but it's a good thing as you can save yourself from impulse bids and buys.

full frame 35mm. auto everything I assume. It's mostly a PnS.

Off the top of my head, I was trying to think how you could configure
something like that of your own - that's an alternative to using
the Fuji Futura.

For a bit more money you could get a black canon body + a Sigma 24/1.8.
Now, I don't know how the Sigma lens would compare to the
Fuji lens.

For about the same price you could get a Canon silver body + Sig
24/1.8 and then just cover the body with electrical tape
to make it black. Smile

But all these, I think, would be much larger and heavier than
the Futura.

great points, it's really ostly an impulse and "colelctor buy" that I've managed to stave off.

However I do have the 350D and the 28mm sigma 1.8. :)

And I was actually thinking of a hypothetical film outfit, using
one of the bottom-of-the-line Canon film camera.

But if you already have the 350 with a 28 I can see that the Futura is not
something you need to obtain that type of picture.
