online hosting for event photos Can't Post

we have an upcoming event that we will be shooting candid shots. we realize that most shots will be candid 4x6 type of images. we are looking for a site that will host these pics, allow guests of the event to view and order online and that will drop ship to that guests.
any ideas of good reliable sites.
thanks,
judy w.

www.smugmug.com

The "pro" account is expensive (like $130 a year I think), but I really like it. I've got public galleries, private/password protected galleries, and a bunch of unlisted galleries for storing my photos or for posting them on VU. Tongue

You can even use it to host videos, and share them using their flash player on your website/blog.

My simple SmugMug page is at: http://rustybryce.smugmug.com/ . Your page is totally customizable if you know how to do that sorta thing. You can even forward your domain name to it, so clients think they're still on your .com, but they're actually on your smugmug page.

They have their own forum at: http://www.dgrin.com/

Good luck!

I just tried out Collages.net
It is a little tricky setting things up... or maybe I'm getting old and don't catch on as fast as I used to.
The price is pretty steep.... $40 per event or $70 monthly for unlimited events/uploads.

I got the first event free w/ a $25 print credit, so I am going to order some prints for myself so I can check out the quality.
I am a MPIX guy, but they don't have online hosting. Now there big brother (Miller Brothers)does but I am not impressed with the look & feel of their online hosting/site.

I'm going to look @ smug mug... thanks Rusty...

thank guys,
we are already an express digital client but for this event with guest ordering 4x6's it will be pretty steep and don't think we'll get that many orders. i would hate to take orders and have to print them at sam's and then doing the distribution ourselves.

That's what I like about SmugMug...you set the % of profit you want to make off the sale of each photo or photo-product (they sell all sorts of other junk with the photo printed on it). They make the sale, they make the print, they ship the photos to the client. They keep the money for THEIR price for the photo, and cut you a check for whatever your markup was.

Of course, the only people that buys my photos are my mom and sister. Laugh

Take that as a compliment! My mom actually called a photo studio to arrange for family portrait, (the studio wasn't mine).
