Anyone using pbase for photo storage? What are the advantages?

Pbase is excellent for storage. It just depends on what you want to do with it. I will use it to have brides approve of the album designs. Also great for family stuff is well.

It's probably not the most intuitive program to use, but you can fight your way through it.

I read that it was a good site for getting traffic and that portrait photogs can get 1000s of visits a month by hosting their portfolios there. If so, it sounds like a cheap marketing investment.

What do you want to do with it? Sell from there, post proofs, just link to the site from your website?

Don't know about selling from there. I have a few other sites I already have to keep an eye on. I wouldn't mind having a portfolio up there to get traffic to my main site though so I can sell direct.

I use my pbase site as my online 'complete' portfolio. It has more than just wedding stuff on it. I get a few inquiries from it, and have actually got a booking from it. It ranks high in Google if somebody searches for my name.
So it's worth the $13/year or whatever it is.

Re: [Colvin ADTR] pbase [In reply to] Can't Post

Being my first year in business I swamped myself this year ... totally ... and I wasn't even that busy. I was just disorganized. Instead of placing my photos on PhotoReflet I simply uploaded them to pbase and practically begged people to steal them ... telling them that if they were to right click on the image they could save them to their desktop ... and that they would make a fine 4x6. I just wasn't looking for more sales.

This year I will probably purchase a cart system and do my own fulfillment. We'll see how that goes.

osCommerce is a free and very powerful solution, if you know a little PHP or can get help from someone who does.

Hi Colvin,

I use pbase and enjoy it. I think it is $23 usd a year. I find it very easy to add photos and organize directories, much easier than making changes to the design of my website.

It is easy to upload a bunch at once too. Simply zip all the ones you want into a single folder and then upload the zipped folder and it does the rest for you.

If you want to see my pbase acct - just pm me.

Cheers
Heidi
