AT WITS END - OFF TOPIC Can't Post

For all those INDY film fans out there .... HELP !!

I can't even remember the year ... but thinking it might be about 1978 or so there was a movie made in a famous little burger joint in Los Angeles... I think it was called Johnnies on the corner of Labrea and Wilshire Blvds. Anyway, this movie was about some guy sitting in this diner and he gets a phone call, and the other end warns this guy about an impending nuclear attack on Los Angeles. A bit of a corny opening turns into what I would consider one of the BEST independent films I've ever seen. It actually became quite a popular B-movie for it's day.

Anway, as I recall (and the recollection is a bit hazy), he keeps going back to this phone for updates on this missile - and then I forget a lot of the rest of the movie... must be having another senior moment.

Someone suggested I go to IMDB, but I couldn't find a way to search according to story without a film title.

I hope someone can reach back and remember this movies name.

Thanks
Vidguyz

Sorry VG I looked every where for the movie but not even a keyword search of plot outlines on IMDB turned up anything. Around 1977 blockbusters movies had overshadowed the indie/art film movement that had swept through the 60s and most of the 70s. A search for B movies instead of indie films turns up nothing but two dollar drive in horror movies.

If it makes you feel any better in the process of looking for your film I found a film I saw as a kid that scared me to death and I could never remember its name.......it was called "LaserBlast". It is the "A" typical B horror movie.

Some soon to be stars and Anthony Edwards was already in Top Gun when this came out.

DING DING DING DING.

That was it ... duh, the movie is the name of the street it was filmed on. That area has been known as the miracle mile since, I believe, the 30's ... that stretch of WILSHIRE BLVD from about VERMONT to LABREA ......

THANKS MovieMidget ---- btw, how did you know .... a favorite for you ? You hated it so much you can't forget it ? You're a good computer/internet search guru and found it that way ? Dying to know.

I simply loved the movie myself .. but then one of my favorites is also FARGO ... and R. Altmans classic NASHVILLE.

It's been quite awhile, but I seem to remember a movie 'The First Men on the Moon' that scared the bejeeeeeezes out of me when I was 7 or so, and to this day I care NOT to see it. Not that I'd be a-screeered to watch it, more that I would defeat a 40 year old phobia that's been a topic of many a fright night get together. That movie literally shook my foundations as a kid .. all I remember is a lot of bumpy men and women and a white thing, like a rabbit. To this day, I see a white rabbit at night and I'm outta there.

If you haven't seen MIRACLE MILE, order it - let me know what you think

VIDGUYZ thanks MOVIEMIDJ for finding one of my favorites.

The movie was actually on late night on one of the stars movie channels not too long ago. I thought wow anthony Edwards has hair in this flick. It must be old. Not a bad B-Movie.
