What's the best format to present Instant Messenger conversation in a script? Thanks.

Type it out as dialogue with a subheading "on screen text" or something to that effect. For all narrative purposes, it's a type of dialogue.

Are you familiar with the proper film script format? Many films use the Cole & Haag format. If you're unsure do an internet search on them and you should find some great help.
