The Austin Underground Film Festival is now accepting film and screenplay submissions!

We aim to showcase independently produced movies, with a special themed section for socially conscious and/or political films. When selecting movies for exhibition, we seek to provide a venue for films that might not otherwise be screened for the public. Films of a progressive, radical, critical, provocative, confrontational, subversive, volatile, controversial, irreverent, rebellious, seditious, illicit, profane, offensive, obscene, psychotropic, pornographic, corruptive, violent, blasphemous or otherwise irresponsible nature are all especially encouraged. However, virtually no genre or concept is excluded from consideration.
THE FOLLOWING STYLES ARE ACCEPTABLE:
Shorts,
features,
narratives,
freeform,
documentaries,
experimental,
animation,
music videos,
silent,
and foreign.
All films in languages other than English must be subtitled or dubbed in English, unless dialogue is nonessential to comprehension and appreciation.
There is also a screenplay contest with a cash prize, for both short scripts (under 45 pages) and feature lengths, open to the above categories and any genre.
Subject matter can be of any rating or maturity level, children’s to adult. If your film doesn’t fit in one of these loose categories, feel free to e-mail andy@austinundergroundfilm.com and ask!
Entry Fees:
25 minutes and under - $15
25 to 45 minutes - $20
45 minutes and over - $25
short screenplay – $10
feature screenplay - $15
SPECIAL DISCOUNT for socially conscious / politically themed films* of any length: $10 Entry Fee
*if you're not sure if your film qualifies for the reduced rate, e-mail with a brief synopsis and we'll let you know.
EARLY DEADLINE: DECEMBER 29th, 2005
LATE DEADLINE: TO BE ANNOUNCED
THE FOLLOWING FORMATS ARE ACCEPTABLE:
½� NTSC VHS video and NTSC DVD only. Sorry, no mini-dv, film prints, betamax tapes, cell phone recordings, or vacation slideshows.
There is no entry form, however we ask that each submission be accompanied by
- name of the writer, director, and producer (if applicable)
- synopsis and/or artist's statement
- the appropriate entry fee (cash, money orders or checks please, payable to: Andy Gately, Festival Director)
- running time
- e-mail address or contact phone # to allow for selection notification
- OPTIONAL stills, press packets, publicity materials, etc.
Unfortunately, entries will not be returned. Multiple submissions are acceptable, but do require separate entry fees.
