Can excellent sound make up for mediocre video? Can't Post

I'm working on a 3 consumer grade camera bit. I plan to filter and coddle the video before capturing but I'm still afraid of its final quality. I found a video processor that's about $430 at http://www.gthelectronics.com
Anybody here ever use or heard of it? I need some unbiased information on it.
On the other hand, I'm going to have about 12 channels of digital sound being recorded at any given time! I'm pretty proud of that. Each camera operator has a portable Minidisc or DAT recorder, another for environmental, and one for boom mic. Plus built-in and shotgun mics on individual cameras and a few wireless lapels. I'll have sound coming out of my ears! (For a change...)

IMHO: No. Even the best audio can't make up for poor video. If one is great and the other lousy, it creates a lack of congruency between the senses, if anything. I would think it better for the final production to look like a low-budget job by someone with something very creative/artistic to convey than to have it looking like it was done by folks who know or care a lot about audio but little about video.
Let me know when the soundtrack is released on CD (don't throw anything at me, I'm only kidding.)
