DVGATE Export Problems Can't Post

Has anyone had problems using DVGate to export completed AVIs to Video Tape? I have been editing video with MovieShaker software, adding my own soundtracks. The finished videos play back properly in DVGate's preview mode, as well as Windows Media player, but when the video is sent back out to my camcorder with DVGate, the audio begins to badly distort after 1 minute.
I am using a Sony VAIO Digital Studio PC with a Sony TRV-720 Digital Camcorder. I spent a ridiculous number of hours on the phone with Sony's Tecnical Support, who was no help at all.
Thanks for any input.
