For a creative wakeup call- Sin City Can't Post

Go see Sin City !!! RR has done phenomenal things for the "artsy" side of filmmaking, shot entire on digital. I want to buy the DVD just so I can freeze-frame and study the lighting.

Oh yeah, and its a don't-miss-one-second story too. Cool

Is "lighting" code for Jessica Alba?

No, her codeword is heat, not light. Cool

Jessica Alba should be outlawed.

I have been a "fan" since the Flipper series.

Great show, great story lines, excellent character development. I don't know why it isn't still on.Mad

Saw it today. Very cool. And very different. Geez, Elijah Wood's so dang mean. Silly Hobbitt.

I enjoyed "Sky Captain" as well, but this looked like a better use of the same process of film making.

Anyone check out GQ magazine. I was at the line at Andronico's and just happen to glance at the magazine rack. She has about 4 semi nude(is the word nude allowed here) pics in there. One word. HOTTTTT!

Re: [galt] For a creative wakeup call... Rosario Dawson [In reply to] Can't Post

LIGHTS, ACTION... Howzabout Cool Rosario Dawson, y'all?

Have you heard about her ancestry? Speaking of some wild "action", for crying out loud Tongue:

Native_American-Puerto_Rican-Afro_American-Irish-Cuban!

Now, that's what I'm talking about!

Not bad in Chelsea Walls' Picasso-esque blue lineage of the storyline... a perfect
casting job, playing herself... Her voice timbre has a nice depth to it as well...

25th hour, with Edward Norton, seems to have been her biggest break.

No wonder Oliver Stone cast her against Jolie in Alexander in 2004. Blush

Interesting how she's sometimes totally not hot but then hot again.
She's been turned into a wazzup babe, no doubt.

Galt, I just got home from seeing Sin City and was blown away! The lighting, the color passes, and the women were all incredible. I will definately be buying this movie when it comes out because I would love to play around with some green screen type things and find out more about the making of the movie. I saw a show on Spike TV about it but hope the DVD goes more in depth. I do like the fact that it was really three seperate stories but yet somehow tied together via the characters. Very interesting movie indeed. Wink I have to edit now but have Alba on my mind.

Re: [Storm Crow] For a creative wakeup call [In reply to] Can't Post

Storm, I have heard that RR shot three separate movies (each is one book), edited each one completely, then cut the three together to make the feature film length version. The DVD set will have the released feature, the three separate films, and a 20 minute directors segment about how he did it.

Now everyone will please go see it this week so attendance can drop off and they will release the DVD's soon.

OTOH, if attendance is too high, they might decide to release the three to the theaters first (I hope not).

I saw SC...and walked out after 30 minutes. More like, bolted in horror from the theatre.

I agree with everyone here that the film is technically brilliant. No one has come closer to literally translating the graphic novel look and feel to the film medium. But the violence was far too graphic. What works in a comic, on the printed page, is much too intense when blown up to the big screen, with motion and Dolby surround sound.

Re: [videobear] For a creative wakeup call- Sin City [In reply to] Can't Post

I'm sitting there watching this film (went and saw it by myself because nobody else wanted to see it) and just after the nude stuff but before all the girls butt cheeks scene, in walks these three 10 year old boys and they sit in the seats right behind me! I want to watch the movie but my concense tells me I need to go tell the manager that these kids should not be seeing this. I did not know if there was going to be any more nudity but I knew I would not let my 12 year old son watch this movie at all. So I acted like I needed a refill and went to let management know and when I got back to my seat they were already chased out! I'll see what I missed when I buy the DVD set on the release date. It was that good!Wink
