Hi8 Video Editing on a Laptop Can't Post

Can anyone advise what accessories/boxes are required to successfully edit Hi8 tapes using a laptop ?(PC, not Mac)
Eg, Is there anything on the market which has S-video/audio IN, Firewire OUT ?
Are laptop HDD fast enough for Hi8 capture?

You should check out the Sony laptops. They are great portable units for editing video. BUT, you will need to get a digital8 cammcorder to transfer(digitize) all you HI8 video. The D8 camcorder will directly connect via firewire(IEEE 1394) to your laptop. It's a great package... total price should be under $3000.00.......... yes digital video is expensive.
I'm sure they use a 7200 RPM drive in the laptops. You shouldn't have any problems.

Adios.
