Insurance for a carload of camera gear Can't Post

So how do I go about insuring all my camera gear?

Has anyone ever gotten their stuff stolen (I would suspect a car break in to be my biggest risk) and was able to replace it from insurance?

At what value is it replaced?

I'm trying to picture filling out a report for a car break in 'oh, and there was $10,000 worth of camera gear in there too!' 'oh really, and how many Van Gogh's were you also carrying?'
