My Star Wars mac/intel Spoof just crossed 200K views!?! Can't Post

Don't know if you guys remember the video of the mac/intel star wars spoof that I posted, but I looked at it the other day, and it's up over 200K views!

I did a google search and I found it on websites with foreign languages, and all over the place.

I guess it's gone world wide, and there are more nerds out there than I ever realized :D

thanks, it was just something my cousin and I did in Vegas. Just fun, I could have done better in Combustion, but I didn't want to put that much work into it.

Respector of persons and copyrights

Wow. So it's okay to rip off George Lucas and the MPAA and spread it around on YouTube but it's not okay use copyrighted music in wedding videos? Add on top of that all the other logo violations you have in that clip.

This is hypocrisy at it's worst. You just lost all credibility as if you had any left to begin with.

As long as he doesn't make any money off of it, and nobody mistakes the scene as actually being created by him, he should be fine. That is what copyright is for. However, he DOES get some publicity off of it, but Lucas doesn't seem to worry too much about that type of thing. Just "no money" and "don't pretend you made it" in this case...

Arguably, this is satire, not copyright infringement.

Exactly my initial thoughts on this. There are special inclusions for satirical content.

Kind of like my wedding videos which is why Enya and the like can't touch me. LaughLaugh

What does making money have to do with copyright infringement?

It's satire, so it's fair game.

HOLY ADMIN EDIT BATMAN

I would still like it known that it DOES fall under Parody/satire in the fairuse portion of copyright.

As the moderator in question, I agree! I just deleted your original post because it replied to a post that no longer exists (a deleted personal attack). Smile

I enjoyed your satire!

The only thing making money off of it has to do with it is that Lucas has basically said that anyone can make a fan film of the star wars stuff and publish it, as long as nobody makes any money off of it (no paid actors, etc). Granted, this isn't a fan film, but still...he seems to give a lot more leeway than others. Most likely because he owns his own stuff, and not the studios, so he gets to decide everything.
