What is the difference between negative and positive stock film?

Positive is like a slide ,you look at the film and see the actual colours and picture.
Negative is opposite.

So what is the difference in shooting with the 2 types of stock? Does positive make a color film and negative make a black and white film?

Honestly, do some legwork. A 2-second google query for "negative film stock" turns up all sorts of informative links.
