New web page and trailer please give feedback Can't Post

Hello everyone,
I’m pleased to announce my first short to make it into a film festival.
It’s called The Camera Phone. I am a student at San Jose State University and this short was my class project. It was selected to go to Cinequest after showing at the San Jose State Film festival. I would like some feedback on the web page and trailer. (Trailer link is under Press Kit) check it out at www.thecameraphone.com (the camera phone buttons are links)

Thanks for any feedback!
Marcus

Re: [Marcus] New web page and trailer please give feedback [In reply to] Can't Post

Hello all again,

Interesting thing about all the web page visits - 85% are comming from the UK. It's more popular in England that the US.
See the stats -
http://my.statcounter.com/...d=470438&guest=1

Even more interesting is many of the visitors are typing in the URL manually. (No refering URL)
Im very curious as to how all these folks in England are finding out about it.

Here are some theories -

1. Word of mouth - "Hey mate check out this video I saw on thecameraphone.com"
2. File sharing - The short is on some file sharing network and the viewers are typing in the URL after reading it in the credits.
3. Radio - Some UK radio show mentioned it.
4. Printed article - Some UK news paper?
5. ?

So how did your short do at Cinequest?

Any chance it is available for viewing? I watched the trailer, and the only thing I was able to gather about your film is that it done with a camera phone, and it has booty shots. Enlighten us.

Thanks for the feedback. I've noticed many cameraphone.com hits from this posting with you being the first that actually replied! I guess no feedback is good feedback. Wink

It went well, although mine was overshadowed by others shot in film (or HD) with big budgets and Hollywood studios special thanks in the credits. (Very long credits!) The best compliment I got during the Q&A was "How much of that was real voyeurism?". None of it was. Every shot was planned and storyboarded. Two girls wore different outfits so it looks like many women. One of them had the same model cameraphone used in the short (A Nokia 3650) she took many photos of herself and bluetoothed them to me later.
Links from the main page at www.thecameraphone.com allow you to watch the whole thing.

I decided my next short will be shot in HD. After seeing HD on the big screen I was blown away!

Whoops, missed the link. Crazy

Overly-long credits are a complaint I've heard voiced many times in reference to student films. I wonder if it's because they really have a lot of people to thank, or if it's just not enough editing restraint...

Were the films shot in HD or the more affordable HDV?

Hi Matt -
I was responding to this message then hit the back button by mistake - Bad - I lost it all.

Im not going to retype everything again - To surmise -
No one I knew of was using the new Mini HD cams.
Im going to wait before I get one - The main reasons

Slower performance - HD MPEG2 compression
Possible editing loss - MPEG 2 compression
