OT - How do I go about submitting a song for recording? Can't Post

I'm not sure of the process of doing this so I thought I would stop in here and ask and see if anyone could steer me in the right direction. I wrote a song, actually I have written many songs and I would like to copyright them and submit them so that possibly they could be recorded by an artist. What is the process for doing this so they cannot be stolen or claimed by someone as their own and also what is the process for submitting them and to whom do you submit too? As far as the genre I would say they probably are country songs but hey, in todays music world I could easily see them as light rock. The songs right now are just lyrics and music still needs to be written for them but that is beyond my talent. TIA

Is DSE still hanging out here? He would be the one to contact about it, since my understanding is that he does a lot of audio/music work.

A number of years ago I wrote a bluegrass/gospel song. I submitted the song to the library of Congress to get it copyrighted. To get some creditibility, I entered the song into a national song writers contest. We didn't win big, but we did get an honorable mention. I love bluegrass music, and submitted the song to country music artist Ricky Scaggs. They were looking for new music at the time as they were in the process of recording a new gospel album. Although they didn't choose our song, Ricky said that he liked it. I use to play in a band, and I recorded the song myself in a recording studio.

I don't know if that will help you any. Good luck. Let us know how you do!!!
