PD150 head whine? Can't Post

Hello,
Well, I bought my PD150, picked up a Audio Technica AT4073a and decided to test the audio for the dreaded hiss in manual. I did find the hiss but will make no judgement about it until I can play the tape off my computer hardrive. What I did find though absolutely horrified me. There is a pretty loud "whine" from the camera's video heads whenever they are spinning. When MIC NR is on the whine is not noticeable until someone speaks and then it pumps in and out with the speaker giving this weird electric razor type buzz that ebbs and flows with the speaker. If I turn off MIC NR the whine is a constant bug in your ear. If I put the mike on the other end of the room, it can still hear the camera head whine. What is going on here? Did I get a bad camera? The dealer says that they do not accept returns on pro gear and that everything will have to go through the Sony pro service center (luckily I live in LA).
Any others out there with this problem? What to do?
Thanks,
Perry
