Pan and zoom still images Can't Post

I am looking at doing a lot of panning and zooming of old photographs and drawings. I would like to be able to pan and zoom these without having to scan them into a computer (I'm working with a Cassie). I would like to film all my movements but want all my shots study. Is there any kind of hardware out there that does this or am I going to have to do it handheld?

Whatever you do, do not try this handheld. You will be dissapointed in the results. At the very minimum you'll need a good tripod with a fluid head. Shooting small photos while panning and tilting takes a lot of practice. Rent a tripod if you need, but don't try this with a cheap tripod, especially one designed for still cameras.
Your best bet (if your don't want to capture the photos in a computer) is to use an animation stand. However, these are expensive. You might find one at a local production company, but animation stands are becoming a rariety.

Here's an article I wrote that offers several solutions -
from the very simple to the very expensive -on how to
pan and zoom on photos.
