"Art History" is a film which I directed towards the tail end of last year (it's 22 minutes long) but that we put on DVD about a month ago was recently selected by Panasonic for inclusion on their worldwide demo reel...(given that they selected very few dramatic pieces and one of them cost $300,000 USD - clue - it was not ours....) I thought people might find it interesting how far you can push miniDV gear. We shot with the DVX100 (24p miniDV) and we used a fair amount of accesories (filters etc)...between some of the innovative stuff we did and the talents of the crew and cast I am very happy with the results...(I have even seen blowups to 35mm of some of the sequences and they looked amazing - the quality blew away a lot of industry veterans, both HD and 35mm experienced) A trailer (the same one being shown at NAB in LAs Vegas right now) is viewable on the project website www.stealart.com - the site also contains lots of behind the scenes photos, filmmaker diaries and other assorted info. If people are interested they are of course welcome to order the DVD (which is available from the website - we've put lots of time into some interesting content on there - 2 full length commentaries - director, dp and b-camera and director, producer and lead actress - as well as a behind the scenes featurette) - I'm confident people will find it interesting. Nick P.S. one of the really cool tech. things we did was lock two cameras together side by side for a novel opening title sequence - that's available on the website too (as part of the teaser sequence)
