While the typical reaction to a camera having night shot is probably 'Oh boy, my camera has night shot, how am I going to use blackand green footage anyways' I have a reason for it. As some of you may know, I am working on my 2nd Extremem Uniycling DVD called Inner Balance. Well this upcoming weekened (May 20-21) I am filming a 24hr race (the event is limited to 25 bike teams, and us unicyclists have two of those teams) Filming people waking up at 3 in the morning to go do another 12km lap through the hilly, technical terrain is the PERFECT place for me to use the nightshot mode. So I picked up Sony's IR light for this upcoming weekend and tested it out. While you can't get around the black/green shots (I only intend on using this for a mniute or two in the movie) the IR light is easily 10 times brighter than the stock night vision. It's so bright, that I almost want to seek out other night vision filming requitements because this would be the perfect tool for it. It also doubles as a 3W 'normal' camera light if you select the setting. That makes me wonder about another question (from someone who has the 20W light attachment) does 3W change ANY scene from too dark to acceptable?? Seems like a lot of camera lights come in 3W settings. . Unicycling Glidecam-ist Balance Productions Need help with that editing backlog? My schedule is pretty open right now, I can get them done quickly, here is a sample of my editing London Ontario Wedding Videos
