Training Video... How to Charge Can't Post

Hows it going? I work for a company that has a huge turnover, therefore they have cut costs by cutting the investment in training time by cutting the training staff and having minimal training. I want to propose to them the long term savings of using a training video, that I shoot and edit. The more people they train with this video, the less they have invested in each person that may or may not work out. Also, the new people will start out better trained, a plus for everyone. My question is...is there anyone out there with expierience in pricing something like this. Is there a flat fee per 15min or 1/2 hr of finised video, or how should I charge. Thanks!!!!!

Shaun,
I have produced quite a few corporate videos. Your sales pitch that a training video is a good investment for your employer is absolutely correct. But pricing these kinds of videos by flat rate can be a big mistake for both parties, unless you're not too conncerned with making a profit. That may be fine since you're an employee and they're paying for your time anytime.
I have an article that you may find helpful. It's about Video Contracts and how to charge clients. See

http://videouniversity.com/contarti.htm
You don't have to buy the contracts to understand and use the ideas in that article. Give me a call if I can help you.

I've done this for some information on services/pricing. Try this and see what ideas you can get:
Call some video production companies in the Yellow Pages. They can give you details of a variety of packages/prices. If you're doing this for low-profit or for "brownie-points" at work, then your prices can be much lower. But, figure out exactly what your video will look like, and just ask for details over the phone from video production companies. Just pretend that you're a potential customer, and they'll disclose a lot of details and prices. After you call some companies in the Yellow Pages telephone directory, you might develop an interest in the video business. Wedding videos are priced up to $1500.
