Valley Film Fest screens hummingbird Can't Post

The award winning film, hummingbird, will be screening December 19th in Los Angeles at the El Portal theater as part of The Valley Film Fest - http://www.valleyfilmfest.org

Synopsis - Can one person really make a difference? This documentary explores the work of two non profits started by women in Recife, Brazil. Through their grassroots efforts, they help kids get off the streets and women break the cycle of domestic violence, to find a second chance.

Director Holly Mosher's documentary... finds women coming together to heal the ravages of mental and physical abuse. Through the Women's Life Collective, a community organization in Brazil, women of all ages meet for therapy and support in dealing with abuse. But the Collective definitely goes beyond therapy — it seems to function as a community of its own, one that's more accepting than those its members came from.

Hummingbird delves into organizations helping abused women and their children in Brazil. Children with no stable home roam the streets earning money from prostitution and sniffing glue to ease their hunger and emotional distress. The Women's Life Collective and related organizations offer pathways to healing for both Moms and their neglected children. This film is inspiring in its message of hope amid horrific conditions.

The film will also be featured in E Scene magazine this month.
