?? about script Can't Post

I'm in the process of writing a script. What are the legalities of using parts of dialogue from other movies? The reason I ask is because I'll be entering it into film festivals and I don't want Quentin Tarentino callingCool and telling me I can't use "such and such" in my movie.

Thanks,
Keith
p.s. Thanks Kirkland for telling me about Celtx!!!

If you're satirizing the movie, I think you're pretty safe. If you're doing something else, you can use short bits without trouble. How many times in TV, books and maagzineshave you heard and read the classic lines from movies? "Frankly, I don't give a danm, my dear;" "Play it again, sam;" etc

A very good book on the subject is Clearance and Copyright. You can probably find it at Amazon. It's written by an attorney who specializes in intellectual proprty law.
