color and white balancing Can't Post

I recently bought a canon zr10, its a sub compact consumer grade camcorder. It does offer some filters but i'm interested in trying other ways. I want to change the color of scenes and shots by using white with different amounts of different colors when i white balance so that the picture will come out with a slight "colored" effect. I.e. if i use a white sheet that is slightly pink to white balance, the picture will come out with a blue feel. I have not experimented with this yet and i'm wondering if anyone has, and can offer up some suggestions on which colors to white balance with to get a certain color feel. Or if anyone knows of a book that may explain this, it would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

Hi Jason-
I typically use colored filters to 'tweak' and warm the color balance of the skin tones in the video I shoot. You can also use gelatin filters to 'tweak' the color to any direction you want. If you have a color monitor, experiment with white balancing with different color filters to attain the overall color balance you desire. You can basically attain any color slant you want with this method. Best of luck.

Re: color and white balancing [In reply to] Can't Post

: We recently rapped on a DV sci-fi short... We needed a cool crisp "sci-fi look" -so we ended up white balancing every scene to the back of one of our hands... Try white balancing a fleshtone It just might be the look you want......
