: just wondering, whats the differenece between the 2 roles, and who makes more money? The basic difference is that the Producer is usually the person who oversees all aspects of a production. The director reports to the producer. The Executive Producer is typically the person or persons responsible for raising the funds or giving a project the "green light". The Producer can also be the director or writer, but the Executive Producer rarely gets involved with the actual production process. As for who makes more money, it all depends on who really has ownership and percentage of a project and what kind of deal is struck.
