Entry-level / Intern position available at a busy hi-def post production house. Duties include Tape Vault maintenance including labeling, taking lunch orders and light craft service with direction, light housekeeping, back-up phone duty, and possibly more. Off-time spent learning within the facility is appreciated and encouraged. Wide room to grow!

What about this makes you feel offended?
I don't see a problem and I hope many entry level people won't find a problem with checking it out.

I agree with Smitty. This is an INTERN position, in which the employee is basically given unskilled odd jobs in return for an opportunity to learn "real" stuff in a real facility from real pros. Very typical, especially in this industry.

Jheez - that's the problem with America these days - people CHOOSE to be offended. Get over it (LOL).

If you don't want or are not interested in the job - flip the page, move on.

LOL - we need to get over ourselves from time to time and return to sanity.

Seriously folks !!

I dont think Mr.Lucas or Mr. Spielberg will apply. If the problem is an educted person might feel they would their dignity they probably should apply as they may not be suited to this particular position.Although I personally have no problem with cleaning as I learn quite a bit about the situation , the equipment, the people that made cleaning necessary.
Depends what your into, anybody with a F15 Strike Eagle that needs cleaning please let me know.

Heh - I'm too damned old to be offended !! There hasn't been much I haven't heard, haven't had flung at me (ewww) or haven't flung at others.

I guess, without being offensive, I'm just saying that being offended is a waste of time and energy these days - unless someone directly attacks or does something that can do serious economic, emotional or personal harm to you or your loved ones.

Now, back to the subject at hand - I used to manage a 2,400 person facility .. they called me the Director.... a lofty title for babysitter. At NO time did I ever feel it was a problem to get out there, grab a broom and sweep up something that might have needed sweeping up.

At one time, an employee laughed at me (jokingly, of course) and said it was quite something to see a Director sweeping up, asking if it was in my job title. Laughingly (and jokingly) I replied ... 'Nope, it's part of yours, handed him the broom, told him to sweep up the cafeteria.'

he might have been offended, but later confided it was the best lesson he ever learned about getting the job done .. regardless of what it took to get there.

Hello Doug, in Italy this is very common too, but sometimes it's the behaviour that offend people, not just the task.

An example... if I've got a new helper, maybe it could happen that I ask him: "Paolo, please, can you bring me a coffee?" and similar...

But if you are polite, nobody complains... Maybe eeha didn't tell all the story... am I wrong, eeha? Is the behaviour of someone in your work environment or just the tasks that you don't like?

What I find offensive is the insinuation that janitorial workers have no dignity.

FWIW, this is how I got started at SoundStream. It sure sounds good on a resume' today though. Even though all I did was empty garbage, carry tape spools, and be a general peon. I only wish I'd paid more attention back then. I wasn't even an intern, not really. But I learned a lot. And I usually believe that what I learned there has served me well as I moved into the digital realm earlier than most musicians did.
