reasonable price for 3D animation Can't Post

[:)] Is 1,000 to $1400.00 a reasonable price to pay to have a 10 to 12 second 3D animation clip made? It's not very complex...just a camera examining various angles of an arm....

this depends a lot on how customized you get to have your animation. If the artist is using a program like Poser that has human body models all ready for posing, $1400 is pretty steep. It wouldn't be more than 4-6 hours of work to get the final animation done. That would mean you are paying the guy $230+/hr.

3D artists might charge upwards of $100/hr for really good work. Most would charge $60-$80/hr.

If the arm animation is fully modelled and animated from scratch to your specs in Maya or 3DS Max, then that would probably be more like a 40-hour job. In which case, the $1400 is very fair.

Like all contract jobs, the quality of the work should indicate how much you pay.

Cheers!
