Haven't heard about that one, but I will mention that I have always used Lenmar batteries in my 150's and 170's with no problems. The Z1U senses the battery and if it likes it, it works fine, but sometimes, it prompts to use only Sony batteries and then turns off. I haven't heard anything about blowing out the camera, though.

Haven't heard a word about this at all, regarding the Z1. Did hear an unconfirmed rumor about this with regard to the FX 1, but the diff is, the FX 1 is charged right on the cam, where the Z1 has a separate charger. Of course the cams like Sony batts best, but I've used non-Sony batts quite successfully as well.
