Beachtek Can't Post

Does anyone use a Beachtek on their FX1? I'm thinking of getting an FX1 since I can't afford the Z1. Does the Beachtek or any XLR adapter work the same as the built-in XLR on the Sony? I want to be able to have separate channel.

Currently I own a 170 and 2100.

Thanks,
JR

I have used the beachtek on the FX1 and it works very well, Could I say exactlyas well as a z1 ? , well its hard to measure but I will say that I did not hear any difference, and I own both cameras. THe z1 may give you a bit more range but the beachtek will work 95 percent of the time, just as well

Re: [hlanden] Beachtek [In reply to] Can't Post

I would recommend the xlr pro over the beachtek. I have a z1 & 2 FX1's one FX with the beachtek and the other with the xlr pro. The xlr pro is much cleaner then the beachtek and the audio adjustment pots are much higher in quality.

If you adjust the levels the xlr pro is very smooth, the beachtek has clicks at each point instead of a smooth gradual turn. The good thing about the click of the beachtek is that it is tight preventing accidental turning of the knobs when operating the cam handheld, but the problem is if you adjust the levels live, when you reach each click there is bad crackling noise because of the low quality of the pots.... which forces you to use AGC.

So I definitley recommend the XLRpro for clarity and pot quality. If you are doing run & Gun put a little gaffers tape on the pot just to make sure they dont get moved if they get bumped.
